About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Beijing to Vientiane with a layover

Hi I am traveling from the USA to Beijing and then on to Vientiane. Our itinerary is as follows: LAX-PEK(36 hours)-KMG(3 hours)-VTE. We have no intention of leaving the airport at KMG even though it is part of the TWOV program. Will we have any problems getting our 72 hour TWOV in PEK?

Two stops in China immediately limits you to 24 hours transit without visa. You either need a visa in advance or you must change your flights. Otherwise you'll be denied boarding at LAX.
