About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Planning 2 day stay in Beijing from LAX before going to Bangkok

Would we qualify for the 144 transit visa with the following itinerary:

Leave LAX on the 15th of Aug 3 hr layover in Hong Kong arrive in Beijing on the at 16th at mid-day, then leaving Beijing on the 18th at 8 a.m toward Bangkok.

Yes, as long as the flight from Beijing to Bangkok does not stop elsewhere in mainland china. Also cannot involve returning to Hong Kong enroute to Thailand as HKG-PEK-HKG is not valid.
