About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Is my trip eligible for the 144 hour visa-free transit?

I want to travel from Australia to Beijing, then go to Hong Kong before returning home to Australia. I'm not sure if this would qualify for the 144 hour visa-free entry to China. Can you help clarify this?

Thank you for any advice

It qualifies if your Australia to Beijing flight does not stop in Hong Kong or China, and if your nationality is eligible.
