My husband and I have British passports. We arrive at Shanghai Pudong on 9 May 18 and have a cruise from Kobe Japan from 13 May to 20 May. We return t o Shanghai on 21 May and return to UK on 23 May, do We need a visa for the second entry? We have all our flight and hotels booked?

You don't need a visa for both if Shanghai is your only port of call in China.
