Applying for 3 to 5 year visa

Hello I am malaysian chinese and I want to visit China. However I heard there is the new law for foreigners that are chinese to be able to stay up to 3 or 5 years. How do I apply for this and what are the eligibilities? I have never ever entered China before. Can I apply this through a tourist visa or must i have stayed in China for around 1 year?

Hi, Ava, sorry I haven't heard the 3 to 5 year visa, you are advised to contact the China embassy in Malaysia to inquire the detailed information.

That is not a visa but a residence permit and requires a spouse or parent with Chinese nationality and residing in China as well as the holder themselves to be an ex-Chinese national.
