About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Cruise ship starting and ending in China

Does a cruise ship starting and ending in Shanghai, but going to Japan in between classify as being in transit. I'm flying direct from/to Shanghai at the start and end of the cruise.

If you would go to a third country or region different from the last one you come from after transiting in Shanghai, you can enjoy free transit in Shanghai, and no visa is needed.
