I am traveling from India to New jersey with a layover in Beijing of 24 hours. Do i need visa?

My family is traveling from India to New jersey with a layover in Beijing of 24 hours. Does my daughter who is US citizen need entry permit for doing Beijing tour? Also, we are Indian citizens and have chinese entry permit, can we take beijing tour ?
