About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

hong kong, shanghai , macau

Im travelling from spain to hong kong , and have a meeting in shanghai, will stay there 36 hours and I have a plane ticket to macau. Itinerary is spain - hong kong - shanghai - macau - hong kong - spain.... may I apply to 144 visa on arrival?

That itinerary qualifies for 144 transit without visa. You do have to fly that Shanghai-Macau ticket, of course; you can't skip it and go directly back to Hong Kong.

Im not sure. If I have my flight to return to spain, may I do hong kong/shanghai/hong kong? having my ticket booked to return to spain? May I return to same place?

You cannot fly Hong Kong-Shanghai-Hong Kong without a visa. The 144 hours is not a "visa on arrival"; it's "transit without visa". You have to be in transit to a third country.

Hong Kong > Shanghai > Macau is allowed.
Hong Kong > Shanghai > Hong Kong is not.
Where you are immediately before and immediately after Shanghai is what matters.
