About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Visa in Shanghai information

Hello There,

We are Canadian Citizens heading to Manila from Toronto with a stop over in Shanghai. The Airlines made a recent Schedule change that requires for us to stay 24 hours in a Shanghai Hotel. Would our visa be free and would there be any restrictions for us to stay in Shanghai?

You qualify for the 144 hr free transit in Shanghai in the way from Manila to Toronto. It is free of charge and you need to provide your passport, confirmed onward ticket, completed landing card (usually distributed during the flight) and ideally your accommodation in Shanghai to apply for it at the airport.

Contact the airline to see if they can give you hotel details up front. That may speed up entry as Shanghai has been sticky with must have hotel reservation to leave airport on a stay 24 hours or less.
