9 hour daytime layover in Guangzhou.

April 4, I arrive at CAN at 12:30, pm and depart at 21:30, a 9 hour layover. I am considering either the Chen Family temple or a Pearl River daytime cruise. I am open to any comments or suggestions. Will I have time to take a cruise and return to the airport for my 9:30 pm flight?
Are there city or area tours that leave from the airport?
