About:China Visa Entries / Validity / Duration of Stay

Can I stay in Shanghai airport to catch a flight home on a one entry visa?

I have a student X and will be studying in Shanghai on the 11th of March. I was only given one entry visa. I will be visiting South Korea in July, but I have to return to Shanghai to get my flight back home (to Ireland). Can I return to shanghai if I just stay in the airport to catch another flight? I would only be there for a couple of hours and wont go through customs (would only be going to my terminal)

This is permissible, but as you just hold a single-entry visa, when you enter Shanghai, you should tell the consular officers at the immigration inspection counter that you want to use the free transit this time. In this case, you can save the X type for your studying.
