Hi .We are doing that holiday and when I phoned Chinese Embassy we were told we need visa. Rules changed on January 1st 2018 and I think it's confusing. I keep seeing that you don't need visa if you fly in to Beijing and out at same airport within 72 hours, but you need one if you fly in but leave on cruise ship. It's confusing so I'm still looking into it.

Hi, Janet! You do not need a visa! Since Jan. 1st, the 144h visa free transit policy has been carried out, which allows your trip without a visa!
