About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong

144 Hours Visa-free in Guangzhou

Hi, we have a flight from US to Hong Kong, planning to take a Railway train from HK to Guangzhou, staying for up to 6 days for the Canton Fair, and also then to catch our next flight out to Tokyo (Narita) and back to US.
So, flight US->HK; train HK->GZ to catch the flight GZ->JP; and back home JP->US;
Would we be eligible for 144 hours Visa-free in GZ with this flight pattern/stopover? Thank you.

Sorry to tell you the 144h visa free policy hasn’t worked in the city, so you need a visa for the trip! But once it is implemented during your trip, you can certainly apply that.

If I take the train from Hong Kong to Guangzhou, does it apply as a 24-hr transit, and I would not need a visa? I'm staying at HK, but I have a flight from Guangzhou to Tokyo, so I plan to take the train within 24 hrs before my flight. I would hate to apply for a visa to travel to an airport...

In that case, the 24h TWOV works, have a nice trip!
