About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Can I connect in from Shanghai to Guangzhou then onto another country with the 144 hour visa?

I am looking at spending a few days in Shanghai before I head to Nepal.

The route I am looking at has me flying from Shanghai to Guangzhou or Chengdu before flying to Kathmandu. Is it possible to take this route on a 144-hour free transit? I don't want to leave the airport in Gaungzhou or Chengdu, just transfer flights.

You cannot. Two stops limits you to 24 hours transit without visa.
