About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Flights with transfer in HK

Hello. Can I get the 144-hour free transit with flights to different destinations but that have a transfer in Hong Kong (because of flying with Cathay Pacific)? e.g. Beijing-Indonesia-Beijing (one ticket but with stopover in HK) and then Beijing-NZ-Beijing (one ticket but with stopover in HK). Does the HK flight change mean I cannot get the 144-hour free transit OR do they look at the start and end destination of the tickets (e.g. Indonesia - China - New Zealand. Or how do you know how I can find this exact information?
Thanks!

They do not look at the entire itinerary, but only the flights immediately before and after Beijing. So if your route is Hong Kong-Beijing-Hong Kong then that's not a transit, and you need a visa.
