there are 4 of us and we are all in our late 50sWe were looking at taking a tour from Hong Kong but have read not so good reviews about the tours so is it possible to do the trip by ourselves?Many thanks

Yes, you can! You can take a ferry straight to Macau Ferry Terminal from Kowloon Port and take the ferry back. As for places to visit, you can go to Macau Tower, Ruins of St Paul, Venetian and Sanado Square.
