Canadian tourist in hong kong, trying to visit fellow Canadian tourist near shanghai

I've booked a plane ticket without a visa, and i'm hoping to take the train back to hong kong. what are the chances i can get a visa on arrival?

Sorry, you may be not able to get visa on arrrival. It is suggested to apply for a L visa in HK. Go to Commissioner's Office of China's Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong, which is at 42 Kennedy Road, Central.
