Multiple cruise stops in china

Hi,
We are arriving by air to shanghai and leave the next day on a cruise that stops in Tianjin for two days and Dalian, after that the cruise heads to Japan. Do we qualify for a 144 hour free transit or do we need to apply for a multiple entries visa?
Thanks.

You won't qualify for a 144 hour free transit in China. No matter how many stops you have in China, you can apply for the single entry instead of multiple entries visa if you will enter the country just once.
