About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Taking two different airlines

I am flying from Japan to Beijing on China Eastern and then Bejing to Newark on Air Canada, staying less than 72 hours. Is it okay to use two different airlines?

You will want to double check your China Eastern Reservation. I believe most China Eastern Flights between Japan and Beijing have a stop elsewhere in China, if so its not eligible for the 144 hour transit without visa (formerly known as 72 hour transit)
