However the tour company I am using (China spree} does not provide this information until 3-4 weeks prior to the trip.Is the information that the visa service has given me correct. Please advise.

Duncan, based on what I know, the invitation letter should include the following information:
1. Information on the applicant (full name, gender, date of birth, etc.)
2. Information on the planned trip (arrival and departure dates, place(s) to be visited, etc.)
3. Information on the inviting entity (name, contact telephone number, address, official stamp, signature of the legal representative or the inviting individual)
