144 hour visa shanghai-Zhejiang

I know this has been sort of asked before but I just want to clarify. Flight Melbourne to Hangzhou with change of plane at HongKong. Then return to Melbourne from Hangzhou with change again at HongKong is not valid for 144 hour free transit? I only need six days in china. Visit friends and pick up some belongings.

Yes, it is not eligible for the 144 hour free transit.
Melbourne – HK-Shanghai-Melbourne or Melbourne – Shanghai – HK-Melbourne is eligible for the free transit.
