Water towns

Which is the best water town? Which is the less touristic and less crowded ?

I think it is better to experience a quiet and less-tourist Chinese water towns, so Wuzhan or Xitang might be a good choice.

Thank you Lydia.Have you ever been to Fenghuang?Before traveling to Shanghai I' ll visit Zhangjajie and Fenghuang and I' m wondering if after this it is worthwhile to visit another water town since as I've read Fenghuang is one of the top 5 water towns in China

To some extend they are similiar with well-preserved traditional houses, bridges, stone paved alleys, etc. But Fenghuang is predorminatedly settled by the Miao ethnic minority, so you will sense different ethnic flavor here other than Wuzhen. If you have ample time, it is worthwhile to visit both of towns, but if you are pressed for time, just choose one.
