About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

HELLO. Im taking a cruise on Shanghai. Ill stay in Shanghai for one day

and then take the cruise that goes to Japan as first port of call. If im leaving china through a cruise does the 144permit rule apply? My airline isn't familiar with the 144 permit

If the cruise travels country A (not japan)-Shanghai (144 hours)-Japan, you will be able to use the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai.
