About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

From uk to beijing

I am a uk passport holder . I want to suprise my girlfriend and leave from uk to arrive at beijing airport stay 1 day at the most and return with her on the same flight . Maybe I won't need to leave the airport .
Do I need a visa ??

You need a tourist visa considering that you are not even in transit.

1 Last question please.
So even if I arrive and leave on the same flight back to uk with a confirmed seat. And not leave the airport ?a 72 hour visit is not suitable ?

There's no "72-hour visit", only 24/144-hour transit which requires you to be on your way to a third country. If you don't meet that requirement then you need a tourist visa.

You're obviously not in transit, so of course you need a visa in advance. If you don't have a visa you will be denied boarding in UK.
