Long 13 hours layover on Chongqing, can I leave the airport for a couple hours?

Hello I`m traveling from New York (JFK) transit in Chongqing (CKG) (13 hours layover) final destination Beijing (PEK), I`m from Ecuador traveling with a regular passport, we don’t need visa to visit China, my question is if I can leave the airport to visit the city in Chongqing and then come back to take my flight to Beijing, and if possible what is the procedure to do so?

Of course you are allowed to leave both airports for a visit without visa. Just show your passport at the immigration counter and there won't be problem for getting out.
