About:Shanghai Transportation by Air

We are flying from Honolulu to Shanghai on 3 flights. Customs/Security in Beijing?

he first is on China Air (CA) to Beijing (PEK), then CA to Narita, Tokyo and the final flight to PVG is on ANA, Nippon Airways.
Will we need to go through Customs and Security in Beijing? In Narita? If so, how much time do you estimate it will take to pass through these formalities?
