I am student in China having permanent residence..

I just got married and I want to take my wife with me so I wanna apply s1 visa for her but I want to ask that should I get invitation letter from my university or I can do it by myself too ? By the way, my dumb university isn't giving me invitation letter for her .. so what to do ?
