About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

under 18 years old?

So what about a 16-year-old on a 17-hour transit? And have I understood correctly that the registration of the permit is only necessary when staying in a hotel or similar? Would it be more complicated if the 17 hours are on two days (7:20 am to 0:20 am next day)?

Sorry if I have asked this question before but I could not find it, so I am unsure if I even sent it.

1) There's no official age limitation although some airline may require a parents consent.
2) Non-Chinese citizens must register with the police if their stays are over 24 hours. You technically don't have to but the hotel will register you anyway since it's mandatory when you are checking in.
3) That's fine. However be prepared to spend at least a couple of hours at immigration if you're not holding a visa.

Thank you for your answer! I asked not to register because I won't check in anywhere. Now I have three little follow-up questions.
-Do the 24 hours refer to the day of arrival 00:00-23:59, the scheduled time between the two flights, or the time spent outside the airport?
-With immigration you mean when I want to leave the airport, so I should be fine if I plan 1-1.5 h to get through airport security before the departing flight?
-Do you happen to know if this is any different in Hong Kong? I asked about it on the Hong Kong airport Website but haven't received any reply yet.

1) The 24-hour period now refers to the time when you completed immigration clearance to your flights scheduled departure time.
2) Although you should also leave 1 to 1.5 hours for outbound immigration and security, the time you would spend at inbound immigration will take much longer. As of a few days ago you also need to fill out a form which is distributed by the immigration counters, plus the arrival card, hotel reservation and outbound boarding pass or ticket receipt.
3) German citizens can stay for up to 90 days at HK. Immigration clearance time there is also much shorter and they'll only need to see your arrival card.
