About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Double Transit: Amsterdam to Shanghai, Shanghai to Guangzhou then Guangzhou to Christchurch NZ

Hello, I am flying from Amsterdam to Christchurch and i have a double transit in china, the first is in shanghai 18 hours then Guangzhou for 9 hours. Is it possible to leave the airport in Shanghai or Guangzhou? I will be in china for more than 24 hours so the 24 hour transit visa will not apply and because i stop in 2 locations in china does that also mean that the 72 hour free transit would not work either. I only realized this today and am leaving tomorrow.. Do i have any options at all in regards to leaving the airport in either shanghai or Guangzhou? Thank you for your help.

You need to change your flights. Call your airline. You will be denied boarding in Amsterdam if you don't have a visa.
