About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

How do I go to China immediately for emergency?

I have been contacted by the Chinese employers of my son who is in China and who is having medical problems. He is currently hospitalized and they want me to leave immediately. Can I go to China without waiting for a VISA? It is Friday and Christmas weekend as well...if I have to wait then it will be 4 days until I can leave the US for China. What are my options?

1) Go straight to the Chinese consulate responsible for your state of residence and request urgent processing which only takes a day. However, most of the staff will be off duty until at least after Christmas. You can try to contact emergency consular assistance.
2) Use 72/144-hour free transit if in an eligible city.
3) Ask your Chinese contact to go to the police and request a letter authorizing a port visa. This would usually be impossible but if your situation is demanding enough they may grant you one.
Under no circumstances should you attempt to board a flight without an entry permit or an authorization for a port entry permit.
