Return flight to Europe from Australia with 2 layovers in China

Hi, I am looking at purchasing a return ticket Australia-Europe-Australia, the home bound journey has a 15.5hr layover in Beijing and then another 20hr layover in Quangzhou. I have been advised that we would be entitled to complimentary hotel accommodation in Quangzhou but to complete a day tour in Beijing we would need to purchase Visa's worth approx. $200 AUD each. Is this correct?

You need a Chinese visa. Two stops in China limits you to 24 hours direct transit.
