If you are flying Thailand-China-Thailand you are not in transit so obviously you don't qualify for free transit. You either need a visa or you need to change your itinerary.

Hi thank you for your reply.

If i fly from bangkok to shanghai and then return to Bangkok from shangjai via Kuala lumpur or Hong kong would this qualify me for the 144 hour free transit?.

Just trying to find out what would qualify me to apply on arrival as i want everything in place with no.problems with immigration.
Thank you for your assistance.

You can fly anywhere from Shanghai, except Thailand or China.
