About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

From germany to beijing and back to italy

Hi, does a flight from Munich to beijing and back from beijing to italy qualify or does this count as Europe and thus no third country?
Also if i arrive at 6 am then the 72 hours start counting at 00.00 from the next day? So actually the longest would be 85 hours right?

Hi, the route Germany-Beijing-Italy qualifies for the free transit policy. But in Beijing, the 72-hour period starts from the flight's arrival time and ends at the outbound flight's scheduled departure time. You will be denied boarding if it's a minute longer. So you are advised to apply for a visa beforehand.
