appointment online for renewing passport

Question

My passport will be expired on September 21st , 2018, so I need to renew my passport. Do I need to make appointment online for renewing passport at the Chinese consulate in Chicago? And do I need to prepare any documents to there? Thank you.

Hi, you are supposed to make an online appointment for the application, and you should prepare your passport and its copy, a completed application form, and 4 passport-style photos, Chinese ID card, residence permit in the US, an introduction letter as well as other documents the consular officers consider necessary.
