Visa requirement for cruise stopping in Shanghai

Hi, We are doing a cruise from Sydney that will stop 1 day in Shanghai then on to Hong Kong where we will fly home from. I believe we only need a visa for Shanghai, is this correct. Also, a couple of quick questions regarding the application, it asks for the address while in China(2.6), do we just put the name of the ship, there is also a question (1.3) Other Names, can I just get confirmation we would put my wife's maiden name in this box. Probably silly questions but I just don't want to get the application rejected on a minor technicality.
Regards,
Rob

Hi, Rob, if you will travel like Sydney-Shanghai-Hong Kong-Australia, you will be eligible for the free transit in Shanghai. No visa will be required then. While in China, if you will stay inside the ship, maybe you can provide the boarding address of the ship for that.
