About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

London to Beijing back to London and Melbourne.

Hi there, I'm travelling from London to Beijing (return flight) for 2 days, and then going home to Melbourne immediately on arrival in London, total time <72 hours. Will I be eligible for visa free stay under the 72 hr rule?

Hi, you mean you will travel like London-Beijing-London-Melbourne, right? If yes, you won't qualify for the 72 hour free transit in Beijing because it's not a transit. You need a visa for that beforehand.

What if the itinerary was London-Helsinki (layover for 3 hours) final destination Beijing.
Then Beijing directly back to London.

LON-HEL-PEK-LON is fine as long as your flights are non-stop and your passport qualifies.

Sorry what do you mean by non stop?

Non stop means you should not have other domestic flights within China except for the one in PEK.

Non-stop means exactly that: it doesn't stop. It's not the same as a "direct" flight, which may have intermediate stops.
