Expiring passport for a Dutch citizen

I'll have a layover of 17 hours in Chongqing on my way from Melbourne to London. I'm a Dutch citizen but my passport will expire in less than 6 months. Will I still be able/allowed to transfer in China since this website states that I need a valid passport(is which I have).

Hi, you are eligible for the 24 hour direct transit in Chongqing if you travel like that. Your passport won't affect that. Nice trip!
