About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hello, I was denied boarding a China southern flight from Kathmandu to San Francisco

As I did not have a visa. The flight had lay over in Guangzhou and then to Wuhan and on to San Francisco. I have a USA passport and my companion has an El Salvadore passport. We came to Kathmandu by the same route in revers three weeks ago and were given a temporary stamp in our passport. I'm told that won't work going the other way. I made, the same layover and route one year ago. What's up?

You were correctly denied boarding for Guangzhou does not allow multi-stop transit unless the first stop in China is Beijing. Also you weren't even supposed to fly out from SFO in the first place because US citizens are not allowed to have multi-stop transit if stopping in Wuhan.

The El Salvador citizens with US residency should apply for a visa for the trip, too.

Or just book with an airline that doesn't go through China. Easiest solution to this problem.
