24 hour transit visa at shanghai pu dong (pvg) for indian passport holder ?

Question

I am an Indian Citizen and travelling to India from Chicago (USA) by China Eastern Airline and have a layover of 19 hrs at Shanghai Pu Dong (PVG) Airport. Can you please confirm do I need to get a transit G from China embassy if I want to go out of airport to explore city and come back again at Airport terminal for my next connection flight to Delhi ?Many Thanks in Advance

Hi, you don't need a visa for that, but you may be required to apply for a free temporary stay permit at the immigration office inside Shanghai airport. Afterwards, you can leave the airport to explore the city.
