Ams to kuala Lumpur. KL to Shanghai. Shanghai to Ams

Ticket will be AMS to KL them Shanghai to Ams
Locally booked flights from KL to Shanghai probably via Malaysian resort
Could this work visa free please?

Yes it works, as long as your flights to and from Shanghai don't stop in China, and you have a qualifying passport.
