About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Vancouver-Hong Kong-Chengdu-Taipei-Vancouver: do I need Visa for 72 hours stay in Chengdu?

I am an American flying from Vancouver, BC (Canada) to Chengdu (with 2-3 hours layover in Hong Kong); stay for 72 hours in Chengdu; then fly to Taipei, stay a few days in Taipei and return to Vancouver, BC.
Is the layover in Hong Kong allowed for the 72 hours stay without Visa in Chengdu?

Hi, you will qualify for the 72 hour free transit in Chengdu if you travel like that. No visa is required then.
