About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Visiting Beijing?

I plan to be in Shanghai for 2 days. Then fly to Beijing for 2 days. Returning to Shanghai and departing to NRT on 5th day. Is that allowed on the 144 hour visa?

No. You do not qualify for 144 hours free transit because you visit both Beijing and Shanghai. You need a visa for that itinerary.
