Can I carry 32 ounce silver coins into China

I am planning on being in the country for extended time. I would like to bring some silver in coin form as a financial security hedge. I suspect that it would need to be declared but will it provide me greater problems than what it is worth bringing it in?

According to the regulation, 5,000 US dollars (or equivalent in any foreign currency) or 20,000 CNY is permitted. Or you need to show the related documents and declare them at the customs.
