At Beijing you are limited to 72 hours from scheduled arrival time to scheduled departure time, not from 00:00 the next day.

Are you sure about this? It says on the trip advisor page that it is counting from 00:00 of the next day, and inwas there last summer, i checked my stamp and it said i arrived on the 30th july and i could leave on the 2nd of august..

In Beijing, the 72-hour period starts from the flight's arrival time and ends at the outbound flight's scheduled departure time. You will be denied boarding if it's a minute longer. In other Chinese cities, it will start the counting from 00:00 the day following the entry date.

So why does this say on Trip Advisor : " As of April 30, 2016 this "starts at midnight after arrival" is confirmed for Beijing. As long as your flight out is any time on the day that 72 hours expires, you will have no problems at immigration. "

When you check-in for your flight to Beijing, the agent is not going to look at tripadvisor. They will check an IATA database called Timatic, and the text there reads as follows:

- at Changsha (CSX), Chengdu (CTU), Chongqing (CKG), Dalian (DLC), Guangzhou (CAN), Qingdao (TAO), Tianjin (TSN), Wuhan (WUH), Xi'an (XIY) or Xiamen (XMN) for a max. transit time of 72 hours, starting from 00:01 on the day following the day of entry.
- at Beijing (PEK), Guilin (KWL), Harbin (HRB), Kunming (KMG), or Shenyang (SHE) for a max. transit time of 72 hours;

The rule at Beijing used to be "starting from 00:01 on the day following the day of entry" but it was changed in late 2016. That page on tripadvisor is out-of-date, incomplete and has several inaccuracies. Unless you change your flight or get a visa, there is a significant risk that you will be denied boarding at your origin.
