About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Itinerary: US - HK - Shanghai - Japan - US

I will be in Shanghai for 6 days. Can I take 2-3 of those days and travel to Beijing by train while on a 144 hr free visa?

No, Jhopki, you are not allowed to visit in Beijing if you want to use the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai. But you can go to Jiangsu and Zhejiang while on a 144 hr free transit.
