About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Traveling to Asia

From NYC, I will be arriving in Hong Kong at 18:25 on Feb 9th. I would like to book a flight leaving on Feb 12th at 19:20. Would the 72 hour free transit work in my case or would I have to purchase a full visa? I will also be stopping in Shanghai on the 20th for 2 days. Thanks!

Hi, Ryan, you don't need a visa for Shanghai if you will go to a third country or region different from the last one you come from after transiting in there. Otherwise, you should apply for one in advance for that.
