About:China Tourist Visa

What type of tourist visa (double or multiple entry) will I need, given this itinerary?

Hi! Can you give me guidance on what type of tourist L(double or multiple entry) will I need given the following itinerary?

1. First flight from Melbourne to Bangkok, transiting in Shanghai for 6hrs.
2. Return flights from Bangkok-Haikou-Bangkok, staying for 3 days.
3. Last flight from Bangkok to Shanghai, staying for 7 days before returning to Melbourne.

I plan to get double entry tourist L to cover my flights to Haikou and Shanghai. However I am not sure if my first flight (Melbourne-Bangkok, transit in Shanghai for 6hrs) will require me to apply for multiple entry visa? For example. will the transit count as my first visit, even if I only stay for less than 6hrs?

Hi, Alan, you can apply for a double entry tourist L to cover your flights. You can make use of 24 hour direct transit for Melbourne-Shanghai-Bangkok, and no visa is required for this flight. Nice trip!
