Change from student visa to tourist visa?

We currently live in China as foreigners from the US. My wife is a student at a university in China. She has a student X. I have a resident permit as her husband. The student X expires in February of 2018. How can we change our type to a tourist L without leaving china? Can you process for us for a fee?

Hi, it's possible for you to convert your current visa to a tourist L type at the exit and entry administration of the local PSB within China.
You should prepare the relevant documents including passport and its copy, the application form, a passport-style photo, residence permit, accommodation arrangement and the return ticket as well as the physical examination record(if needed). Then, submit the application to the local PSB.

That’s great! Thank you for the info. Right now US tourist Ls to China are good for 10 years but require an exit every 60 days. I heard in some cases they can reduce the number of years the entry permit is good for, but extend the exit time, to every 90 days for example. Do you know if it’s possible to get a 90 day tourist exit visa as an American if we go through the local PSB?
