Picking up tickets with email

Is it possible to pick up them by showing the confirmation email on my phone or do I have to print it out?

In fact you only need the pick up number and passports, no matter you copy it, write it down or show it on your phone, they are the same.

I bought a ticket from Beijing to Xian for me and a foreigner friend. Can I pick up them days in advance using a scanned copy of my friend's passport? Or do both travelers and both official passports need to be present?
