Utility knife

Is it OK to take a small pocket knife to China in checked baggage then carry in my pocket while touring China? Do most tourist locations allow this or are metal detectors used to scan visitors to most tourist destinations?

Yes, it is ok to put in your checked luggage. As I know, you cannot bring them into several scenic areas. Thus you can put your luggage at the Luggage Storage Center or the hotel.
